Using Your HSA or FSA with Relax Saunas

Relax Saunas has partnered with Flex to allow eligible customers to use their Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to purchase qualifying far infrared saunas and lamps. This allows you to use pre-tax dollars, which may reduce your effective cost depending on your individual tax situation.

What is a Qualified Customer?

The IRS requires that HSA or FSA funds be used for qualified medical expenses. To use these funds for a Relax Sauna far infrared sauna or lamp, you must have a medical condition that far infrared therapy is intended to support and obtain a Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed healthcare provider. Flex helps streamline this process through a simple telehealth consultation if needed.

How do I use my HSA or FSA at checkout?

Select Flex Pay with HSA/FSA at checkout. You may be asked to complete a brief telehealth consult to confirm eligibility. Once approved, you can enter your HSA or FSA debit card and complete your purchase. If you do not have your HSA or FSA card available, you can use a regular credit or debit card and submit your receipt and Letter of Medical Necessity for reimbursement.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulates how HSA and FSA funds can be used. Certain therapeutic products, such as Relax Sauna ACU-MASSAGER tools and Body Balls, are generally eligible without additional documentation.

Far infrared saunas and lamps may also be eligible; however, they typically require a Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed healthcare provider. This letter confirms that far infrared therapy is recommended to support a specific medical condition or therapeutic purpose.

To qualify, you must obtain a Letter of Medical Necessity from a licensed healthcare provider. This letter confirms that far infrared therapy is recommended as part of your care plan.

Common conditions for which far infrared therapy may be recommended include:

• Chronic pain or inflammation
• Muscle recovery or injury rehabilitation
• Circulatory concerns
• Joint stiffness
• Detoxification support
• Other medically recognized therapeutic needs

The Letter of Medical Necessity serves as documentation for your HSA or FSA administrator.

You may complete your purchase using either your HSA/FSA card directly or request reimbursement after purchase.

Option 1: Pay directly with your HSA or FSA card

At checkout, enter your HSA or FSA debit card information as you would with any standard payment card.

Option 2: Pay with a personal card and request reimbursement

If you do not have your HSA or FSA card available, you may complete your purchase using a regular debit or credit card. After purchase, you will receive an itemized receipt. Submit this receipt along with your Letter of Medical Necessity to your HSA or FSA provider for reimbursement.

A licensed healthcare provider must evaluate your condition and determine whether far infrared therapy is appropriate.

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) are tax-advantaged accounts designed to help individuals pay for qualified medical expenses using pre-tax funds. FSAs are typically provided through employers and allow users to allocate pre-tax income toward eligible healthcare costs such as prescriptions, copays, and approved therapeutic devices. However, FSA funds are generally subject to a “use-it-or-lose-it” policy within the plan year. HSAs, by contrast, are available to individuals enrolled in high-deductible health plans and offer greater flexibility, allowing unused funds to roll over indefinitely and continue accumulating over time.

Far infrared therapy is widely used in both clinical and home environments to support circulation, muscle recovery, joint mobility, and overall physiological function. Using your HSA or FSA funds makes it easier to invest in therapeutic technology that supports your health and recovery.
