Relax Far Infrared Portable Sauna

Owner's Manual: Setup • Operation • Care • Safety

Welcome to the Relax Sauna Family

Congratulations on your purchase of the Relax Far Infrared Sauna — the only portable sauna powered by patented PTC semiconductor chip technology. Your Relax Sauna emits a pure, narrow band of far infrared energy between 3 and 14 microns, achieving over 99% FIR emissivity in the biological window where water molecules in your body absorb energy most efficiently.

This manual will walk you through everything you need to know: unboxing, assembly, your first session, ongoing care, safety guidelines, and troubleshooting. Setup takes under five minutes, and no tools are required. Please read this manual completely before your first use.

2. Assembly & Setup

Your Relax Sauna requires no tools and can be fully assembled in under five minutes. Choose an indoor location with a standard 110V outlet nearby, on a flat, non-slip surface. Allow at least 12 inches of clearance on all sides of the tent.

Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions

  1. Open the sauna tent: Remove it from the carrying bag and unfold it. The tent will pop open into its upright, cylindrical shape. The side with the Relax logo faces outward.
  2. Place the chair inside the tent: Position the folding chair so that it sits centered inside the tent with the seat back facing the rear (where the radiator will go).
  3. Insert the radiator unit: Place the dual radiator unit inside the tent behind the chair, with both radiator panels facing toward the chair. The radiators should face your back when seated.
  4. Attach the support poles: Insert the four support poles onto the prongs that extend approximately one inch from each side of the radiator unit. These poles keep the front of the tent fully billowed and upright.
  5. Place the foot pads: Set the two removable foot pads on top of the radiator generators. These protect your feet during use.
  6. Attach the controller box holder: Clip the blue controller box holder onto the top of one of the support poles, near the top of the tent.
  7. Route the power cord: Thread the power cord underneath the tent’s front zipper so it exits cleanly at the bottom. Plug it into a standard 110V wall outlet.

CAUTION: Do not use an extension cord. Plug the sauna directly into a grounded wall outlet. The unit draws 1,500 watts and requires a dedicated circuit for safe operation.

TIP: Your Relax Sauna is now fully assembled and ready for use. Total setup time: approximately 2–5 minutes.

3. Operating Instructions

Before Your First Session

We recommend running the sauna empty (unoccupied), flaps open, for 10–15 minutes before your first personal session. You may experience a slight odor which is harmless; just an initial burn in for the electronics.

Starting a Session

It is very important to hydrate prior to the session. Drink water or an electrolyte mix to prepare for the session.

If you have any medication delivered by an applied patch to your body, take it off prior to the session.
  1. Sit in the chair inside the assembled tent. Your head remains outside the tent through the neck opening at the top. Zip the tent closed from the inside.
  2. Place a folded towel on the chair seat for comfort and sweat absorption. Drape a second towel over the back and arms of the chair. Have a third towel available to wipe your face.
  3. Turn the timer dial to your desired session length: 10, 15, 20, or 30 minutes. Beginners should start with 10–15 minutes or less.
  4. Flip the power switch(es) to the ON position. The orange indicator light will illuminate, and you will hear the cooling fan engage — this is normal. The fan cools the semiconductor chip to maintain optimal performance.
  5. Relax and enjoy: The far infrared energy will begin warming your body within 1–2 minutes. Sweating typically begins within 5–10 minutes, depending on individual physiology.

Ending a Session

  • When the timer buzzer sounds, your session is complete. Alternatively, if you wish to exit early, flip the power switch(es) to OFF.
  • Unzip the tent and step out carefully. You may feel light-headed momentarily — this is normal.
  • Hydrate immediately: Drink at least 8–16 oz. of water before and after every session.

CAUTION: Never turn the timer dial in reverse to end a session early. Always use the power switch(es) to turn the unit off or allow the timer to run out naturally.

Routine Usage Guidelines

Experience Level Recommended Duration Frequency
Beginner (Weeks 1–2) 10–15 minutes 2–3x per week
Intermediate (Weeks 3–6) 15–20 minutes 3–4x per week
Experienced (6+ weeks) 20–30 minutes 4–7x per week

TIP: Listen to your body. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or uncomfortably hot at any point, turn the unit off and exit the tent immediately. Hydrate and rest before resuming.

4. Safety & Precautions

The Relax Sauna Sky Eye Lamp Generator (same as the sauna generators) is FDA-registered and designed for safe home use when operated according to these guidelines. Please review all precautions carefully.

General Safety Rules

  • Always plug the sauna directly into a grounded 110V wall outlet. Do not use extension cords, power strips, or adapters.
  • Place the sauna on a flat, dry, non-slip surface away from water sources. Bare floor or carpeting is fine.
  • Keep the sauna away from flammable materials, curtains, bedding, and paper.
  • Never operate the sauna unattended and never fall asleep during a session.
  • Do not allow children or pets to use or access the sauna without adult supervision.
  • Do not place objects on or inside the sauna tent other than the included components and towels.
  • Inspect the power cord and tent material regularly for signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.

Health Conditions

Consult your physician before using if any of the following apply:

  • Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy
  • Cardiovascular conditions including uncontrolled hypertension, recent heart attack, or pacemaker
  • Active infections or fever
  • Open wounds or recent surgical sites
  • Medications that impair sweating or heat tolerance (e.g., beta-blockers, diuretics)
  • Hemophilia or bleeding disorders
  • Multiple sclerosis or other conditions sensitive to heat
  • Implanted medical devices (consult your physician and device manufacturer)

CAUTION: Alcohol and sauna use do not mix. Do not use the Relax Sauna while under the influence of alcohol or sedating medications. Dehydration risk increases significantly.

The Importance of Hydration

Proper hydration is essential. Drink at least 8–16 oz. of water before your session and replenish fluids afterward. Adding electrolytes (mineral salt, coconut water) is recommended, especially for sessions exceeding 20 minutes.

5. Cleaning, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Routine Cleaning Protocols

The Relax Sauna’s silver-ionized reflective lining is naturally antimicrobial, and many users find the tent stays virtually odor-free for years with minimal care.

  • After each session: Wipe the interior tent walls and chair with a clean, damp cloth to remove any sweat residue. Using three towels during sessions (seat, chair drape, face) will catch most perspiration.
  • Weekly: Wipe the metal bars connecting the two radiators with a damp cloth.
  • Monthly (or as needed): Run the sauna unoccupied for 10–15 minutes. The far infrared energy eliminates bacteria inside the tent chamber.
  • Every 3–6 months: You may hose the tent (inside and out) with clean water and allow it to air dry completely before storing.
  • Foot pads: The two foot pads on top of the radiators are removable. Wipe them down or wash with mild soap and water as needed.

CAUTION: Do not use chemical cleaners, bleach, or abrasive products on the tent or radiators. A small amount of hydrogen peroxide added to water is acceptable for periodic wipe-downs.

Storage Guidelines

When not in use, fold the tent back into its circular storage shape. The side with the Relax logo always faces up when laying the tent flat on the floor for folding. Remove the chair and controller before folding. Store all components in the included carrying bag in a cool, dry location.

Tip for folding: Folding the tent into its compact circle can take a little practice. Lay the tent flat with the logo side up, fold it in half, then twist and fold into thirds. It gets easier each time.

Troubleshooting Reference Matrix

Identified Issue Recommended Solution
Unit does not power on Verify the outlet is working (test with another device). Ensure the power cord is fully seated. Check that the timer dial is set to a value greater than zero.
No heat / radiators not warming Confirm both power switches are in the ON position. The orange indicator light should be illuminated. If the light is on but no heat is felt after 3 minutes, contact support.
Fan noise seems loud The cooling fan is normal and necessary — it prevents the semiconductor chip from overheating. A slightly louder fan during startup is expected.
Tent does not stay upright Ensure all four support poles are properly seated on the radiator prongs. The poles should be inserted firmly and the tent should billow evenly.
Unusual smell on first use A mild manufacturing odor during the first 1–2 sessions is normal. Run the sauna unoccupied for 10–15 minutes to eliminate this.
Timer buzzer does not sound The timer may be set to a very short duration. Reset to 15+ minutes and test. If the issue persists, contact support for a replacement controller.
Tent material is discolored Minor discoloration of the silver lining over extended use is cosmetic and does not affect FIR performance. Continue normal cleaning routines.
There is no visible light inside Far infrared light is not in the visible spectrum so you will never see illumination. When you feel the heat, you know it is working safely.
